Afghanistan Squad for 2019 World Cup |
It is still early days for Afghanistan in World Cricket but they are already making strong statements here and if you take my opinion then don't be jolted if they do anything similar to what Bangladesh did to India in 2007 WC.

They have already shown the glimpses of not being minnows anymore during the Asia cup 2018, where they comprehensively beat Sri Lanka and Bangladesh by 91 runs and 136 runs respectively.
And had almost dented Pakistan's hope but Shoaib Malik came to rescue his team and snatched
the victory from the jaws of defeat.

And who can forget the match between India and Afghanistan which ended in a thrilling tie, all hails to Rashid khan who delivered in the crunch situation with the ball by scalping Ravi Jadeja to end the Indian innings.

At present day scenario, one can expect Afghanistan to beat all odds of being least favourite and show their mettle. They have already set the tone for the rest of their World Cup campaign, with the victory over Pakistan in the practice match at Bristol. This also marked their entry in World Cup 2019 and they cannot be taken lightly anymore. This is an entirely different Afghanistan team compared to the one when they first emerged in International arena long back in 2009. Though most of the core players are same from that team but, their skills are now sharper than a serpent's tooth and above all they are playing with great consistency. This is Afghanistan version 2.0 for you !!
Well, If you look at the current Afghanistan team they possess all sorts of fire power which a team should have up their sleeves. They have a good solid Openers up front in the form of experienced Mohammad Shahzad and the young Hazratullah Zazai who can demolish any bowling line up.
They form a very good pair of experienced and young talent and their left hand right hand combination makes them even more lethal against any bowling line up.
However, after the openers it is the job of their middle order batters to capitalize on the start provided by the openers up front. It is their task to make good use of the foundation, and they have more than capable middle order batsman in Rahmat Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi and the experince of former skipper Asghar Afghan. The trio set up the balanced middle order followed by some quality lower middle order and all rounders.
The likes of Mohammad Nabi, Skipper Gulabdin Naib and Rashid khan provides the late hitting prowess. We all know how Nabi and Rashid Khan made their impact both with their batting and bowling skills while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL. The duo possessed the experince of playing in big bash league as well and doing exceptionally well for their respective Franchise. They also have the exposure of playing T20 leagues globally.
Moreover, they also have some quality fast bowlers like Aftab Alam, Dawlat Zadran and
Hamid Hassan. To boost their bowling line up, they have young and enigmatic Rashid Khan, currently the World number 3 bowler in ICC ODI ranking on their side. Not to forget Mujeeb-ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi, who are exceptional in limited overs format.
