Quick Gun Morgan:

Eoin Morgan played the knock of his life, when England took on Afghanistan in a rather one sided clash. He scored 148(71) which included 17 gigantic sixes and only 4 fours. 17 sixes hit by Morgan is now the most in an ODI innings in a World Cup game going past the previous best of 16 sixes by Christopher Henry Gayle against Zimbabwe at Canberra in 2015 World Cup.

This is also his best score in ODIs. He took on the Afghanistan best spinner Rashid Khan in particular by smashing him in all corners of the park. The Afghan leggie had a worst day on the field as he conceded 110 runs in his 9 overs and took the mortification of holding the worst world cup figure of all time to his name.

Morgan scored fourth fastest 100 of 57 balls in WC against Afghanistan.

Morgan who played a blistering innings after getting dropped by Dawlat Zadran at deep mid-wicket on Rashid Khan bowling. He got a good companion in Joe Root who was playing second fiddle and anchoring the innings. Morgan reached to his century in just 57 balls which makes him the fourth fastest player to reach to a three figure mark in World Cup game. Kevin O'Brien's 50 ball century against the England at Bengaluru in 2011 World Cup still remains at the top.

England beat Afghanistan by 150 runs to get on top of the points table.

Moreover, the late hitting onslaught from Moeen Ali took them to 397/6 in their allotted quota of 50 overs which is now their highest total in World Cup surpassing their previous best of 386/6 against Bangladesh earlier in the tournament.
